When Obeying Hurts...

13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
1 Peter 2:13-16

I didn't want to write this. I didn't even want to think it. But here I am...so here I go.

I've seen or heard many Christians who say they aren't voting based on a candidates religion, but based on their voting record. I agree 100% that we should be judging them by their records, as they are supposed to represent us. But I wonder how many believers get on their knees and seek God's will for the outcome. How many are willing to put personal views and possible perceived insults aside and listen to Gods voice?  I can tell you right now...it hadn't occurred to me that I might be asked to vote differently than what I'd assumed was the right way. I can also tell you...with regret...that I have not considered prayer in my decision making process. The path seemed to clear to 'bother' God with my questions.

God does not take sides, He has no favorites. *Unless you're Israel* He has a master plan for this world, for our country and our lives. And sometimes...we need trials. Sometimes, we need reminders on who is Sovereign over all. Sometimes, our pride needs to be broken, to reveal the King of kings.

So I ask, if you profess faith in God, to seek His will in the coming elections. By all means, do your part in research the fore-runners. But always submit yourself to His will, even should it hurt, or not make sense.

This is a huge reminder to myself...and to you. Wake up. Get on your knees. And seek His will. Then...DO IT, OBEY Him.
