More Simple

Going along with the theme of simple these days, I've been shown a few things about myself.

1) If I make an announcement that I'll be doing something, more often than not, it won't be completed, or even started.

2) If I make something too complicated, it won't be followed through with.

3) I need simple, easy, fast and fun. If I can get all of those, then chances are...it'll be something I can stick with.

I think it has a lot to do with pressure. Real or perceived, pressure can and will, squash my best intentions. Pressure can make you feel bad, if life gets in the way. If instead of finishing that project, you had to stop to feed young mouths, clean up your beloveds dishes or cuddle with that furr baby who has felt sadly neglected. Life...it's full of more than your to-do lists, chores and latest/greatest 'it' thing for the kids.

When you let go of the pressure, it's very freeing.

It's pretty nice to be able to do the things I've thought of doing. Like, crafts with the kids. Chasing J around, and basking in his squeals and giggles. Singing and dancing with Molly and praising God for her laughter and her little hands grabbing my face. These are the moments that I will remember. Not that the house was a mess, the laundry needs doing, the dishes are multiplying. And not having the pressure or the 100 pointed list of things to do at a certain time on a certain day, allows the freedom to stop. Pause. Play. And connect.

What do you do, to keep things simple and easy for yourself? Do you plan fun into your days?

  1. I love that you are finding more time to enjoy life's simple pleasures. You even prompted me to clean off my one book shelf again and get rid of more books, partly because I have more than I needed, and partly to make sure that no more remained that I should not read.
