Covenants

Wow.

I don't even know where to start with this blog. I've been in a study class for about a year now. We study the Bible through Kay Arthur's Precept Upon Precept courses. Yes, I said courses. It's like attending college. However, once you take the time and effort to do the walking, reading and research yourself...you know beyond a doubt that what you believe is solidly founded in the Bible. She encourages you to be your own commentator...to be your own teacher, with God being your mentor and guide. Which is how it's supposed to be.

We're doing a study in Covenants right now. This course has floored my over and over again in how it relates to my relationship to God and my husband, both of whom I've entered into covenant with. Now, don't get me wrong, but I see now that I should have gone through this before marriage. In fact, I think all couples should go through this together, before saying I do. I believe then, that the sacred promises and words said to each other wouldn't be taken so lightly, as they are today.

I've come to see that when a covenant is broken, all parties are broken. And God grieves the death of a beautiful thing. Yes, my friends, covenants are beautiful as well as solemn.

I will leave you with this thought...

Have you entered into a covenant with God, or your husband? If so, do you know what that means, truly? If not, I'd encourage you to find out, and be amazed along with me!
